Willie Nelson to play back to back shows at The Joint

TULSA, Okla. – Willie Nelson may be nicknamed “Red Headed Stranger,” but the legendary country musician has long been a household name due to a hit-filled career spanning more than 50 years. The iconic performer will perform on March 16 at The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.

Tickets start at $45 and go on sale Jan. 31.

Since launching his career in 1959, Nelson has produced 66 studio albums and 96 singles, with an astonishing 25 songs peaking at No. 1 on U.S. charts.

Among his most famous chart-topping songs are the signature hits “On the Road Again,” “Always on My Mind,” “If You’ve Got the Money I’ve Got the Time,” “Blue Skies,” “Georgia on My Mind,” and “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain.”

His most recent release is 2012’s “Heroes,” which features covers of Pearl Jam’s “Just Breathe,” and Coldplay’s “The Scientist.” The album includes guest appearances by numerous musicians, including his son Lukas Nelson, Ray Price, Merle Haggard, Snoop Dogg, Jamey Johnson and Sheryl Crow.

The Abbott, Texas, native has earned numerous awards, including seven Grammys. He is a member of the Grand Ole Opry, a 1993 inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame, a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors in 1998 and a 2011 inductee into the National Agricultural Hall of Fame for his work with Farm Aid and other fundraising efforts benefiting farmers.

Outside of music Nelson is an accomplished actor, appearing in more than 30 films and television shows, including “The Electric Horsemen,” “Honeysuckle Rose” and the film version of “The Dukes of Hazzard.”

Nelson has penned seven books, including his 1988 memoir “Willie: An Autobiography,” and his most recent release, 2012’s “Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die: Musings From the Road.”

UPDATE January 28, 2013 -  Willie Nelson will now play shows on March 15 and 16, making him the first artist to play back-to-back nights at The Joint.

Tickets for both shows start at $45 and go on sale Jan. 31.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa is located off of Interstate 44 at exit 240. The Joint box office is open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. All guests must be 21 years of age or older.
